The Coulee Region Chill season is more than half way complete, but before the season began, discussions with Tim Ebner (Interim Manager) at the Omni Center, Empire Development, Beaver Builders Supply and Rik Franke from the Chill were pointed towards coming up with a plan to replace the old box that sat atop the penalty box since rink one was built.
The Omni Center was in need of a new place for not just the Chill media, but for reporters from the La Crosse Tribune, camera crews from WXOW and WKBT, road broadcasters and others.
There was a delay in construction when it was determined that this structure needed to be redesigned for seasonal take down and needed to be reinforced by steel beams. Beaver Builders Supply was so generous in donating the wood materials for the project and Empire Development their skills in not only working with the architects in the design, but the construction of the box itself as a donation. The steel was donated to the Omni Center by Rik Franke in memory of his late father Eric Franke who passed recently.
"Whether it was broadcasting an Onalaska Hilltoppers HS game, an Avalanche HS game, or the Coulee Region Chill, this has been a big part of my life here in the Coulee Region and I really wanted to make this work", said Rik Franke, Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations.
Much thanks goes to Tim Ebner, who helped to see this through as interim manager at the Omni Center before the new Management Company took overJanuary 1st.
