The Coulee Region Chill gave the Midwest Division leading Jets all they could handle last Friday night, before eventually falling 2-1 at home. Janesville jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Chill forward Isaac Theisen answered to bring the home team within one. That would be all Coulee Region could muster as the game came to a close.
After falling 2-1 to Janesville the night before, the Coulee Region Chill showed their grit on the road as they defeated the Jets, 4-3 via shootout on New Year’s Eve. Forward Kip Hoffman started the scoring for Janesville with a goal midway through the first period. Coulee Region then answered back with two of their own in the second period with goals from forward Bailey Martin (Bryant, Quagliata) and defenseman Steven Quagliata (Sofo, Corbett). Janesville would not go down easy though, as they regained the lead in the third after a pair of goals. Forward Braxton Collins was the savior for the Chill late in the third, though, as he tied the contest at 3-3 with his fourth goal of the season (Schroer, Theisen). Chill forward Joey Sofo provided the deciding goal in the shootout as Coulee Region went on to win 4-3.
The Coulee Region Chill will be on the road this Friday and Saturday as they take on the Janesville Jets yet again. It will be the third and fourth time the two squads will have faced off in a row. The series will once again prove pivotal for the Chill, as they look to close the gap between themselves and their Midwest Division leading rivals. Puck drop for Friday and Saturday’s contests are slated for 7 pm at the Janesville Ice Arena.
