AUSTIN, Minn. – The Coulee Region Chill moved into first place in the Central Division of the of the North American Hockey League with a 4-1 victory Friday night over the Austin Bruins.
The Chill (24-13-4) now sit a point ahead of Owatonna, which fell 5-1 to Bismarck. Coulee Region has 52 points to 51 for the Express despite having played two fewer games.
Micky Knox had a goal in each of the first two periods for Coulee Region, giving him 13 goals on the year. Connor Gaarder assisted on Knox's second goal for his team-leading 46th point of the year.
Jake Useldinger scored a shorthanded goal late in the first period to give the Chill a 2-0 advantage, which Knox extended to three goals early in the second period.
After a powerplay goal by the Bruins, Tommy Miller scored what proved to be the final goal of the game late in the second period.
Paul Moberg made 41 saves on 42 shots for the Chill.
